Acknowledgements
This project would not have been possible without the financial
support and guidance provided by the European Commission and
gratitude must be expressed to Bruno Julien, Micheal O'Briain
and Angelo Salsi for their guidance and support.
Day to day guidance and assistance was ably provided by Ecosystems
and our thanks go to Kerstin Sundseth, Beatrix Richards, Neil
Fletcher and John Houston for all the help and advice that
they freely provided.
At a more local level thanks must also be given to the partners
and co-financing organisations without whose input the Project
would not have been possible: Scottish Natural Heritage, Forest
Enterprise and Forest Authority (now Forestry Commission),
Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and Highland Birchwoods.
These organisations provided the personnel for the steering
group as follows: Jack Mackay (FC), David Jardine (FC), Ken
Sinclair (FC), Bryce Reynard FC), John Kerr (SNH), Nigel Smith
(SNH), Tim Clifford (HB), John Kerr (SNH), Anna Morgan (SNH),
Stewart Taylor (RSPB). The Scottish Executive took a watching
brief and were represented by Graham Clark and Liam Mathers
Although these people formed the working nucleus a number
of other personnel form the partners had an input, frequently
quite significant, to the successful working of the project
as follows:

The overall Project was initially managed by Neil Wilkie
until June 2001 and his input was invaluable as was the support
provided by Cath Williams throughout the life of the Project.
Final thanks must be given to the many neighbours of the
land being managed and especially to Brahan Estates and Mr
and Mrs MacNab as the only private landowners where habitat
restoration was undertaken by the Project.
